Captain's Log - Stardate Tuesday, 06/15/2010
Just got off the phone from talking with Chris. He said he has been working nonstop all weekend. He was at the shop waiting for Mike's engine to be delivered and then he had to leave to take care of some personal business that couldn't wait. So he suggested that tomorrow (Wednesday) would be better for me to stop by. According to an email I got from him, he got quite a bit of the small stuff done.
Another snag he mentioned is that the hook hits the catchcan that he got from RevXtreme for me. Not sure what is up with that..... Anyway, he says we should be in a position to start up the engine for the first time on Thursday. Oh yeah, got a phone call from Josh at RevXtreme to tell me (via a message relayed from Connie) that the new throttle body should show up at Chris's on Thursday. Don't know what the status is of the headers that got damaged in transit..... :shrug01: Sigh........ |
I take it she didn't get fired up today. I figure you'll be posting on the forum as soon as you get home from the shop...or steal chris' computer to logon and post that she lives again. Good luck on Friday!!!!!

I went out to the shop on Wednesday, and both Chis and Justin were working on my car. Justin was rechecking the torque on all the bolts. Chris was doing some stuff with the wiring and other odds and ends. Got the new tunnel plate put into place...
Still lots to do, but mostly all little stuff. |

Both Connie and I went out to the shop early afternoon. Chris was working on the wiring again. Come to find out that the new starter he had gotten for me when this install all first started was damaged in the box. The solenoid was cracked on the end and had the terminals bent. Damn these little snags, anyway....
Hoping to have the startup on Friday, but I'm really not holding my breath. Oh yeah, yesterday Chris had to take the valve covers to have bungs welded into them for the catch cans. That wasn't finished today so hopefully tomorrow.... The throttle body was supposed to show up today, but Chris didn't say anything about it, and I forgot to ask... |
Well, at least you know it's getting close now. Just keep an iron near by so you can keep smoothing out the wrinkles.
|
I've never heard or seen of anyone welding bungs onto the valve covers to install a catch-can.

Chris called early this morning, heck before I was even out of bed, to tell me he was unsuccessful finding either a starter of solenoid for my car locally. So he had to order one, which won't be in till Monday. :banghead:
He was going to check on the valve covers, but I haven't heard back from him. And again, I forgot to ask about the throttle body.... |

Your valve covers are not OEM and therefor have no outlets in the valve cover for venting to the catch can...and since you have the dual can design it would be best to pull crankcase vapors from both the valley cover & the drivers side rear of the valve cover as your filtered crankcase make up air comes from the filtered breather on the pass side front in the oil fill. |
