I am opposed to John Q Public owning one of these and I'm not going to change my opinion and you won't change yours.

That is the same sort of argument that the anti-gunners used in the "assault weapon ban". Those guns are no more accurate nor dangerous, nor fire a cartridge any different then, and other semi automatic weapon that uses the same caliber cartridge. It's just that they are scary looking to some people, and to them that equates to being more dangerous, and more capable of causing mass destruction at the hands of someone using it. Quite frankly, I would fear an accomplished shooter behind a bolt action target grade rifle any day of the week over some gang banger with a semi auto AR-15.

Well of course I disagree. The intent and purpose of the Second Amendment was exactly because the founder's intent was to keep the civilian population armed sufficiently enough to keep the government in check. I don't know why anyone would find it surprising that the entity that the Second Amendment is designed to protect us from would make every attempt to neuter those shackles. As for full automatic weapons, if I am willing to pay the $200 tax stamp and go through the red tape, yes, I can have one. And it is my belief that even those restrictions are blatantly unconstitutional. As for metal piercing bullets, if you shoot a 30-06, then yes, you DO own them yourself.
So again, please read the Second Amendment and point out to me where it says that any particular TYPES of firearms are restricted for use and ownership by "the people".
