Interesting video of the storm surge in Ft. Myers Beach.

Sanibel is destroyed worse than it was when I got sent there for Charley in 2004. Ian took the road out by the bridge!

Connie and I were talking about going back to Sanibel as soon as she was feeling better after chemo so she could go to Doc Ford's for dinner. Her favorite restaurant. Wonder if that restaurant is even still standing?

Definitely worse than when I was there in 2004.

I understand the death count is currently at 65 statewide.

That pink building in the first pic in your link is the Lazy Flamingo. Connie and I used to eat there quite often while on Sanibel. That had REALLY good fried shrimp! Great shelling just across the road, which is close to the bridge over the inlet (to the right in the pic) separating Captiva from Sanibel. I believe that inlet was a cut through from an earlier hurricane.

We used to just ride our bicycles there from the place we were staying.

Doubt we will be going back there anytime real soon. Doc Ford's on Sanibel reportedly sustained only minor damage, but still, no sense having a restaurant open if there is no one able to go there to eat. Darn shame as this was one of Connie's favorite eateries.

What a mess.... And I was just thinking a couple of weeks ago that Florida was going to be skating by this year without any hurricanes threatening. :dead:
