services offered

i always thought this would be kind of a cool section. not sure where it could go. create a section where people could post their specialties, skills, or things they could do to help others. for example i was an intern architect for 8 years so i have extensive knowledge of local building codes, structure design, construction means and methods. also drafting and 3d modeling. if someone on the site was in need of drawings for permitting or if had questions about the process of doing an additions to there house, i could help out

since the architecture is in the crapper ive been working as a project manager for a hvac contractor. i know more then most about hvac, and if someones ac was broken at there house, i could most likely fix it.

i would be willing to help pretty much anyone, and if they wanted to throw me a few go fast parts, not a bad deal.

anyway, figured id throw it out there and see what everyone else though.

Personally, I would like to see a couple of attorneys step up to the plate to help us out when needed.

I'm all for this idea, so figure out what sort of title you guys would want for such a forum and where you believe it would be best placed.

I guess this could help as advertising for such people/businesses as well.

How about simply "SERVICES" or MEMBER SERVICES"
and place it in the classified or lobby?

Well, this requested forum has been up for half a month now and not a soul has utilized it -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forum...play.php?f=102

If it's not going to be used, then it will be taken down.

Half a month is not that long considering the holidays and such.

I know I'll be using it as soon as we get the paperwork finalized on a couple of new business entities and a name change on the "old one":D

I can't say much more than that at the moment, but I think clockwork had a great idea:thumbsup:

Let's leaver it up for a solid month or so and see where it goes?

Yes

Sorry, but I am looking hard at all of the forums here and any that are apparently abandoned will be removed to unclutter the site. Basically a "use it or lose it" philosophy. That goes especially for the club forums I set up for the various Corvette clubs around. If they aren't being used, then they don't need to be taking up screen space here.

I don't mind setting up specialty forums when members request them and they seem reasonable, but they have to "earn their keep" by being used.

As for the holidays impacting that new "Member Services" forum being utilized, what major holidays would that be that took place between January 15 when I set it up and now? :shrug01:

Seriously folks, I go to many other types of forum sites and when I see forums that haven't had new posts in them for months or even a year, it just looks bad. Any site that LOOKS like a ghost town will BECOME a ghost town as visitors believe that there is no sense registering there because there isn't enough traffic to warrant their bothering to participate. Unfortunately it is a truism of message board sites that they must APPEAR to be active in order to BE active.

So if there are forums here you particularly want to keep, then participate within them. If no one is interested in participating within them, then why bother to have them?
