Cold temps staying

Looks like we will have a string of about 11 days of very cold weather. This is very rare to see highs in the 50's and lows in the 30 for more than 3 days at a time.
It may warm up to around 63 on thurs before the next front.

fletcher4u 01-04-2010 06:34 PM

We may have snow or freezing rain thursday night to friday morning, man that sucks. I remember now I moved here for the weather :banghead:
hopefully I will get the truck and vette washed tomorrow afternoon when it warms up to 49 .

gmjunkie 01-04-2010 07:17 PM

Bring it on!!:D

We will pray for a cold day come Aug when it's mid 90's.

Ain't that the truth! It gets hotter(and more humid)up here than it does in central/south Florida. I try to never complain about it being cold here. I can always put on more clothes, but in the summer, you can only take so many off!

Rich Z 01-04-2010 07:51 PM

When Connie and I drove past the local Walmart today, I saw a water pipe that had apparently burst from the freezing temps last night. I expect this will become commonplace over the next several days. Normally the days would warm up significantly during the day after a hard freeze to keep problems like this from happening. But a long string of freezing temps, with barely warming temps during the day is going to wind up being a REAL problem. People just aren't used to something like this. Which reminds me, I have to go out and drip those faucets again. I notices a leaking crack on the outside shower valve yesterday, which fortunately is on the air side of the valve and not the pressure side. 37 degrees right now and dropping.

BTW, with this long string of freezing temps, I hope everyone has anti-freeze in the radiator. If all you have is water in there, you will likely have some problems one of these cold mornings when you crank it up.

Heck, I'm thinking maybe Connie and I should have moved further south. Maybe to Costs Rica. But I guess it would be REAL tough getting my vettes worked on down there.... :shrug01:

I am in New Jersey for Christmas. This past weekend it was COLD.

Temperature in the single digits and winds 25-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.
My dog is blind and I have to walk him when is time for him to go three-four times a day. Man, I froze!!!!! :ack2:

fletcher4u 01-05-2010 04:54 PM

Hopefully the dog didn't freeze to the fire plug.:rofl1:

CHASZ51 01-05-2010 06:15 PM

It's 40 at this time in my area. I remember a string of cold days back around 2000 or 2001 like maybe 5 days of 50's for highs and 30's for lows.

Ms. AntiVenom 01-05-2010 06:19 PM

I haven't complained yet. I come for almost 300 years of Fla genetics and I will complain soon enough...lol But right now Im on a string of medications an do not care to go outside.

But I really wish I could take my old 51 for a run, Since the only a.c. is a little vent on the hood:lmao: that makes the cold nice for it.

Have Greg crank up the heat at the shop this Saturday. Can't wait to see what all Greg can do to my 5.3 Colorado.

:dancer01:

Ms. AntiVenom 01-05-2010 06:37 PM

Cant wait to have my 5.3. truck back:lmao: Its getting secret work done to it. shhhh:lmao:

Rich Z 01-05-2010 06:44 PM

It barely cracked the 40 degree mark here today, getting only to 43 degrees on the porch. Low last night was 26.7. Right now it is about 34 degrees, so it's looking like it will get REAL cold by tomorrow morning. The forecast isn't looking like much improvement till Monday. Man, this feels like what I had up in Maryland most of the Winter....

Anyone here never had your earlobes flicked when they are exposed to freezing temps? :hehehe:

Ms. AntiVenom 01-05-2010 06:49 PM

It seams that on our Side of Tampa is even colder than the others, We had a low of 28 the day before yesterday and everyone around us was in the 30s and 40s. its really strange, I think you and I are in the same air mass pocket!

CHASZ51 01-05-2010 06:56 PM

East of Tampa gets hotter in the summer and colder in the winter compared to the coast where i'm at.

gsdave 01-05-2010 07:55 PM

It was 29 degrees when I got home at 5:30 according to my truck. It usually reads a little high!

85vette 01-05-2010 08:05 PM

Barely 8 PM and it's already 27....

Ms. AntiVenom 01-05-2010 08:25 PM

Why Not??
Just because my shop looks like a barn, don't mean it's as hard to heat!!
I keep the stat on 68* 24/7.
The monitor keeps the shop warm unless you have the doors open pulling a car in,then I have a 150,000 BTU space heater on a thermostat that kicks on and heats to 64* and shuts off.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
between the two they use about 8-10 gallons of K1 a week if its around 10-20* outside.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
