NCM Membership POLL

NCM Membership POLL

I'd like to be as responsive and informative as possible in this forum regarding information about the National Corvette Museum.

For those that may not be aware, when the Museum breaks down their membership by state, Florida has consistently topped the list at #1... I'd sure like to see that continue!

So, let's try a POLL...
Are you a NCM Member? ... Let us know!

Started out as an individual member then added my husband so now we're family members. We also have a brick for each of our vettes. :yesnod:

Family Member not renewing in September. Problems with Cust Service and well I just don't deal with companys that treat members like I was treated.

:wavey: I'd like to sign up for the Family Membership that NCM offers, so that I could enjoy the benefit of free admission for immediate family members.
Here's the thing... Would both cards come in my name or would/could one come in my wifes name as well?
I'd like my wife to have her own, for what I think are obvious reasons.?

If not, I suppose:nopity: we could still sign up as individual members, Screw the kids.:hehehe:

Not on renewals, correct? I noticed you had new capitalized, but I figured I would check. I have to renew this month.

You're right, Scott, it's an incentive for new Individual & Family members. Maybe the "fine print" at the end of my post was a bit too fine... "Sorry, no discount on renewals or NCM Lifetime Memberships.". :shrug01:

... but don't let THAT hold you back!

Thanks!

The Family membership cards would be issued in your name and the name of your wife, but you might want to verify that they can do the cards the way you want them printed when you call. I'd suggest you do the Family membership... include the kids! And, besides, your renewal on the Family membership would be only half that of two Individual memberships.

Thanks for your question, Ray!

Thaks for your quick reply:thumbsup:

Lifetime #49 - January 1992 (I joined as a Founding Member in January, 1990 - though NCM doesn't seem to wanna count that time for my membership years...)

IVOZ06 11-15-2006 09:18 AM

I was a family member for four years until they pissed me off at the ZFest last year.

They are all about money and do not REALLY care about the people that are supporting them.

C'mon, let us know how you REALLY feel! :hehehe:

(When you are at the UCP Saturday come over to the 54 year display - 1997 will be me - and I'll be happy to chat witcha more about that subject.)

I think it's great that you were able to offer your support for those four years and I'm sorry to hear that you encountered a bump in the road during that event. As the saying goes, "You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

I'm open to discussing your particular issue if you'd like, but it would be best to take that off-line - feel free to PM me. If I can help in any way, I will.

As to what the NCM is "all about", I'd have to respectfully disagree. Since inception, the NCM is dedicated to educating the public through the preservation of the Corvette’s past, present and future heritage. As a a non-profit, “member-driven” foundation, they don't receive boat loads of corporate support, and need to rely on the enthusiasm and generosity of the members to carry on the mission and grow to serve future generations. Fundraising is key to that effort.

On a broader perspective, I'd like to encourage everyone that has had the opportunity to attend an NCM event to take a few minutes and fill out the Event Survey (http://www.corvettemuseum.com/survey/index.shtml) - Your constructive feedback is important to the staff in planning for and improving future events!

:wavey: We are now LIFETIME MEMBERS of the NCM:thumbsup: Although i'm not sure what # we are.?
Spent some time talking to the good people who were representing the NCM at the UCP, and we decided to take the plunge.:dancer01:

Not to mention, I wasn't aware a person could make payments on their Life Time membership.
Also, those who've been paying membership dues annually for individual or family memberships, could apply the monies they've spent in the past (on membership dues) towards the Lifetime membership fee.? Atleast that's what I was told yesterday at the UCP.

OUTSTANDING! Well done, Ray!

And, yes, the folks at the NCM are willing and open to working out a plan on a Lifetime Membership that takes prior membership into consideration and meets the individual's budget. Anyone interested exploring Lifetime Membership should contact Stephanie Morrill by phone at 800-53-VETTE or via email at stephanie@corvettemuseum.com

Better yet, due to a partnership with the Automotive Museums Group (AMG) to provide reciprocal benefits to NCM Lifetime Members, you receive free admission to the following museums:
  • Auburn-Cord Duesenberg Museum - Auburn, IN
  • Blackhawk Automotive Museum - Danville, CA
  • Imperial Palace Auto Collection - Las Vegas, NV
  • National Automobile Museum (The Harrah Collection) - Reno, NV
  • Petersen Automotive Museum - Los Angeles, CA
  • San Diego Automotive Museum - San Diego, CA
  • Saratoga Automobile Museum - Sarasota Springs, NY
Carry on,

Thank You

I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to reply to this thread so far!

I see that so far we have 21 votes in the poll - don't forget to cast your vote!

ynkedad 12-01-2006 08:41 AM

HMM...Just information.

My status has been changed since I originally took the poll. So the "poll" on the 1st page reflects no i'm not, when actually now I am (A lifetime member).
Not sure if it really matters unless you were actually using the poll for something.?

~Ray

SteveK 12-11-2006 09:02 PM

I am not currently a member. I have bought shirts and the original window sticker for my car from NCM. After reading what everyone has been saying here, I can't wait to make the phone call tomorrow and become at minimum a Family member. The Lifetime payment option might make me a Lifetime member. :yesnod:

ynkedad 12-11-2006 10:08 PM

Take the plunge!

FYI: Basicaly, This is what the letter they sent me says.

You'll get a temporary Lifetime Membership card (and I did), which will be renewed at the end of the year with continous payment on your Lifetime membership payment plan. You and yours will be allowed into the Museum and you'll also receive the Discounts at the Corvete store.
Your membership will be processed and your membership pkg. will be mailed to you once you've completed your payment plan.

~Ray

SteveK 12-11-2006 10:18 PM

Does it come with swim arms?

ynkedad 12-11-2006 10:25 PM

Yeah right:lmao:
I edited my last post by the way.

SteveK 12-11-2006 10:31 PM

OK, maybe SCUBA gear :yesnod:
If you don't get the package until the payment plan is complete, how long is the payment plan?:shrug01:

ynkedad 12-11-2006 10:47 PM

:wavey: It depends on how much you pay per month. We're set up for $200.00 per month I believe.

~Ray

gauSZ06 12-12-2006 07:16 PM

Individual member here, as part of my R8C option with the Z06. I plan on becoming a lifetime member. :yesnod:

ynkedad 02-11-2007 08:59 AM

Guess that means now we'll have to go to the museum sometime.:yesnod:

~Ray

SteveK 02-11-2007 09:15 AM

Congratulations!
Judy & I are planning on being part of the Sept. 2009 Caravan that goes to the museum for it's 15th anniversary. But we might get there before that. :shrug01:

ynkedad 02-11-2007 09:24 AM

We'd like to go...

:wavey: but that's aways off and there's no telling (at this point) if we'd be able to make it.:shrug01:
Sounds like one hell of a fun trip though!:yesnod:

Got a letter from the NCM...

 Regarding the 13th Annual Corvette Celebration, this Labor Day weekend Aug 30th - Sept 1st.
It says... as a Lifetime member, We'll receive a Comp reservation to the event, VIP parking at the Celebration and a VIP dinner at Jan and Wendell Strode's home.
:hmm: Anyone know who the Strode's are :thinkin: ?:D

Well, is anyone from here planning on attending this Celebration?

Also, where can I find information (stats) on how many Lifetime, Family, individual members there are? I'm curious because, this guy must have an awful BIG house to be having a dinner for all of the Lifetime members.

~Ray:bigear:

Wendell Strode is the Executive Director of the NCM and recently celebrated his 10th Anniversary in that position.

While breakdowns by individual, family, etc. aren't published, total NCM membership exceeds 27,000 worldwide.

As for the Lifetime member dinner, there's plenty of room at the Strode's. Wendell and his wife also run a superb B&B with all the necessary space to host such gatherings. Check it out at: http://www.1869homestead.com/index.php
