Putting out feelers for a '68 purchase

Yeah, I got the itch for a '68 4-spd convertible. I'm thinking in the <$14 - $15k range. I hear repeatedly, that this is a buyer's market. I would like that to truly be the case. I hope this post works.

I have a c3 (white '75 coupe 4-spd), it's a great car and all, but if I get the right '68, my '75 will go. The right '68 may be described as the '68 with the right price and features.

I know that some of the guys here get around, so with that said, please pass along any leads you may come across. I'm not talking about eBay or craigslist listings, but word of mouth and/or first hand info, maybe friend or neighbor ... or maybe you!

no red or white exterior
no red or saddle/light brown interior

I don't mind doing TLC, but nothing major. I would like the things that should work to work.

Thanks

Having owned and driven a 69 for almost 200,000 miles I can only say the only thing worse than a 69 is a 68 .Unless you want to have a garage queen it'll be a money pit .BUT for the most part I loved the car :D

Not sure why a '68 in particular is a money pit, but aren't they all, in one way or another?

I could have bought two new Vetts for what it cost me for two restorations but again I loved the car .As you know 68 was the first year of the C3 and for the most part and it was a learning curve .

I do wish ya the best in your search .All the chrome bumper cars look great .Keep us posted

From what I've been reading about the '68, I now believe you to be correct.

Not that it's so much worse, but apparently a lot was done to the car from '68 to '69.

Also, from what I've seen, $15k - $17k will get me a car that needs a whole lotta work ... unless I find that deal of a life time.

Okay, so I am looking for a '69 - '70 convertible :hehehe: at <$20k ...

I'll see how that goes. :ok_01:

Just to ad confusion to my search, NOW the more I read about the '68 the more I am interested in that year. Maybe if I keep researching, I'll change course again. :shrug01:
