cove lights

i know they are boarder line rice, but i do like them. how much harassment would one get for blue cove lights. of course have to have lights deep into cove so not visible. i think the blue would look really sharp on my white c5.

you'd probably get nailed for having emergency color lights on your car while driving; blue, yellow, orange i think are a no no red to i'm sure...

I got a fix it ticket in pinellas park and clw beach cause my headlights were too "bluish" for that particular cop, different car, many moons ago...

ClockworkC5 01-11-2011 04:06 PM

lol, nothing better to do. howeveri have seen some very blue lights that i had to look 2x to see if it was a cop. what temp bulbs were you using? thats another thing i plan on buying soo is a hid kit. i do like to blue, but not too blue

Put them on a switch so that they are off when on the highway, but on when you are at a cruise in. Or put orange or red ones in there and link them to your turn signals. The mod would be similiar to the euro cars with the light between the door and the wheel on the fender.

Orange

I put orange in mine. I too was worried about blue or red. I tied them to the running lights and the turn signals.

First off, who cares what some knucklehead thinks?
Unless and until someone else pays the note and/or insurance, it's your car.
If you like them, put them on!
Personally, I think they're pretty nice looking done right:thumbsup:

And although we all know about opinions and thier equivalent, provided for your edification, is her "opinion" on the matter written for the Orlando PD in 1999:

Unfortunately, I don't have the time at the moment to do further research into her cites or other case law since that time.

Here's the Florida State statute:

http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/...0316.2397.html

Quote:

316.2397Certain lights prohibited; exceptions.

(1)No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided.
The key here is the bolded section.

For a while, locals were dinging the ricer crowd for minor violations, in an effort to not only stop some of thier activities, but to gather intel.

The "neons" you see reflecting from under the cars, were deemed to be "illegal" under the above statute and provided PC for the stop.

Not sure where it's at nowdays?

As long as your coves are "coves" anyone would have to really stretch thier imagination (and the law) to make it illegal.

I would NOT place red/blue lights in the front other than the turn signals.
Too easy to violate the statute.

First of all, I don't think anyone or hardly anyone will say anything to you in person. On the forum that may be different. As already stated, it is your car so do what you want and don't worry about what someone might say. I have seen a few C6's in the area with the cove lights, grill lights and even in the wheel wells. Not my cup of tea, but again do what you like.

As for the color, I would think that because you are putting them in the cove, they would not be in violation of the law. It stated;

(1)No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided.

I have Blue on my Silver C5, and I get a lot of positive feedback. Check out my gallery. They were easy to install with the kit I purchased online, let me know if you would like more info.

That's an excellent idea!
No chance of getting "harassed" by LEO's and still have the "coolness" at the show's, cruisin', parades, etc.
