where to find a Roll Bar

awhile back a CF member McSpeed (69myway) was selling chrome C3 roll bars that kinda looked like the Z3 double hump roll bar

I can't find them anywhere...... anyone know where to find them???

You want real as in I can dump this beast on my head and walk away? OR, do you want Memorex (Looks good but don't hit it with a hammer):rofl1:

If the latter is your choice, there are several options.

There is a guy here in the area (I'll have to get you his name and number) that will bend and weld a bolt in unit (remove a couple of bolts and it's out of the way) thats strictly a show bar.

Andreh at Insty Tune & Lube has also built a set.

Again, if it's just looks, uses some exhaust piping or thin walled steel for the hoops and a steel/aluminum plate for a base. Fairly easy to make.

If you get a chance, come on buy Insty Tune & Lube on saturday afternoon around 5pm and we'll show you how it's done. Pretty simple actually and relatively cheap if you DIY:thumbsup:

Like everything elese it comes down to $$$
I want one for the looks but if a real one isn't much more $$$ I want a real one!!!

I'll be replacing the carpet and painting the car soon so now is the time!!!
I'm not a big fan of chrome (roll bars) I'd rather have padding

Again, it's your choice. To do a "real" one, you're going to have to tie it into the frame somehow. You can bolt it or welt it (obviously bolting is simpler) and a simple hoop arrangement isn't going to do much for you in the event of a roll over:(

You'd need some sort of "kicker" or support bar as well at the very least.

Not sure how much it would cost since the steel used to build it is much stronger than the exhaust tubing we're talking about.

Good time to do it is definately while the carpet is out.

As far as padding goes, thats just padding...pick your poision

Just sent you a contact number for the guy that builds and sells the bars we discussed last night. It's in your pm box along with the contact info for Chris the designer of the bars.

Let us know how this turns out?

Gordon
