Dyno Tune

Im getting my car dyno tuned this weekend along with some mods. What is a typical RPM to take the car up to without doing any damage. I want an accurate HP reading but do not want to hurt the car in any way. I have a 2000 c5 a4.

If the person doing the tune for you doesn't know the answer to your question, I would put the car in reverse and get the hell out of there, PRONTO!

Generally, unless you have specifically disabled it, there is already a rpm limiter on the engine anyway to keep you from over revving it. I think once you start getting into to 6K to 6.5K arena, you should be backing down a bit before the limiter does it for you.

Well they do 6k, but being new to all this i dodnt want to hurt the car. if something happens to it on the dyno, its my responsibility

All the dyno runs I've ever done or seen, they take it all the way up to the rev limiter. You just don't want the tuner changing the rev limit. There are a few circumstances in which you would, but I don't know what they are.
