Another Hero Lost

Thursday morning in southern Miami-Dade county a HERO was lost. Another 3 hero officers were wounded. This is happening much too often. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these officers and a THANK YOU to all the HEROs (past and present) for their service to our communities.

Suspect was found and killed by officers early Friday morning in Pembroke Pines after a gun battle.

I heard about this yesterday from a close friend who works w/the PBSO and has close friends in Metro/Dade.

Looks like they took lessons from PCSO:thumbsup:

This is getting way too common in south Florida. My cousins wife works for Broward County SO. She has about three years until retirement. They've already bought a home in Tennessee. They can't wait to get out of there.

From what I heard, he was using an AK. The lefty media is going to be all over this one saying it was the gun that did it. So they ALL need to be banned....

I tend to refrain from saying much about fallen officers. I just quietly hurt. One of my brothers and his K-9 died to gun fire not too long ago and yes Gordon the assailant died for his actions. I had served as a K-9 officer with an awesome dog named Otter for several years. I was 50 yards away when the bad guy was inguaged, I wish it had been my shot, my .45 was in hand and a skirmish line was moving to the bad guy from two directions.

I was also there as a part of out SWAT team when we took down a POS who killed a Winter Haven Officer (Johnny Patterson). I took fire but couldn't return fire due to civilians and children in the structure being used to hide behind by the POS. Supreme frustration.

But the bottom line must be. We may have paid a price but we won and the asshole will never conduct that action again.

I've been to too many funerals of great comrads.

God bless all.

Ken

Amen my friend...I too have laid too many friends to rest and escorted far too many more to thier final rest as a motor officer.

It' something I hope I never have to do again, but alas, another time will come:(

In this case, FWIW, justice was served!

It's getting that way everywhere:( We've watered down and hamstrung law enforcement (some out of necessity) to the point where you're purely reactive vs. pro-active:(

A lot of it too has to do with tactics. We're just not stressing the points we once did:(

I have a close friend who has been providing me info on the recent shootings in S. Fla. He's close with the "powers that be" and the tactical units. Unfortunately, several of these incidents could have been prevented or at least minimized by the implementation of better tactics:(
