180 stat potential problems?

noticed that my fans dont seem to kick on until around 210-220. i plan on putting in a 180 stat. what systems will that effect. i dont want the car to be running in choke mode. (not using some sensor inputs until the car reaches operating temp) also has anyone changed the fan turn on temp using an aldl cable or any other means?

thanks for the info. ive seen those before. i believe them to be grossly overpriced. with an aldl cable you can tune the pcm to turn the fans on at any temperature. a usb-aldl cable goes for $50 and allows user to extract any trouble code as well as do any tuneing desired.

On a C-5, you go into closed loop operation way below 180, so no problem with that. But don't be surprised if your "180" stat runs much hotter than 180 at cruise conditions. A 160 stat will usually run 178-180 at cruise.

i ussually figure 10' hotter. at least thats how it ran on my lt1.
