Damn yellow jackets...
Last weekend Connie got nails by some bee or wasp as we walked out from the house and under the car port. Nailed her under her arm near her elbow. We weren't sure exactly what it was, because we didn't actually see it.
Anyway, today we went out to St. George Island early and when we got back home I was following her as we walked back to the house. We got inside the door of the house and I heard a buzzing noise. I thought it was something electrical so I'm trying to figure out where it was coming from. Suddenly I got a sharp pain behind my left leg right at the shoe line above my sock. Yellow jacket! Killed that sucker. Then I felt another jab of pain behind my right leg right above the knee joint. Dammit! Another one! Then I saw one crawling from the sock on my right foot onto my skin getting ready to lay into me yet another time. Smacked the crap out of that sucker before he could set the stinger. Can't remember my reflexes being much faster in my younger days! So by this time I'm thinking I'm covered with these little bastards so I'm looking all over and Connie is looking over both of us as well. But apparently the three of them was all there was. I figured that there must be a nest of them somewhere between the garage and the house, so we CAREFULLY went out to search for it. Yeah, found it just on the house side of the car port on the side of our walkway. It must be pretty new, because there was an impression in the soil from a stick I had pulled up a week or so ago, and the yellow jackets were flying in and out of that depression. I didn't get any closer to try to see exactly where the hole is located, since obviously they are easily riled up. But come early tomorrow morning before the sun comes up and they will be much slower, it's retribution time. They HAVE to go, in no uncertain terms. Spray the nest hole with poison, then drop a paving stone over top of it to seal them in. Man, I hope there aren't more of these nests around. We had to kill several nests last year, and I had yellow jacket traps up to try to catch the queens in the Spring months. Guess I need to refresh the attractant in those things, because there are obviously still some of them out and about around here. Darn those stings smart! But at least mine aren't swelling up like Connie's sting did. At least not yet. Die, suckers, DIE! |
I'm normally a peaceful kinda guy......take spiders and such back outside and let
them go rather than kill them......but I gotta agree with you about wasps and yellow jackets! Them bad boys turn me into a "senior aged, mutant, ninja, stinging insect killer" !!! And you're right about being quick to send them to Vahalla or wherever in the hell they go when they DIE! I'm OBSESSIVE about eradicating the entire flock/herd/swarm or whatever they're called, as quick as I can. DAMN........those suckers HURT! :ack2: Andy :wavey: |

Damn Rich! You must have every pest known to man somewhere around your house.:rofl1: Not to make light of your pest issues but, at some point, you gotta wonder if the gods are conspiring against you.
