Orlando '63 SWC Restomod
Hi all,
Shadow found me on another forum and invited me to come check out the local scene...I'll spare you all the gory details of the first 3 years of my build at the hands of a B.E.M (Booger Eating Moron)...I am now 2 year into the second build of the same car and within weeks of completion this time... Car is a non-numbers matching (calm down any Origy freaks) that has morphed into an SR-III tube chassis with a C5 suspension front and rear. LS2 power with a 6 speed behind it. Far too many mods to list...this thing is fighting me to the bitter end so just about every thing has been modified in some way... I plan to get out to some local events when it is finished...I plan to beat on it and drive it like I stole it...it isn't a trailer queen or garage art...it is meant to drive... Here are the most recent pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/restovette63/Vette52010# and there a ton more in the route directory here: http://picasaweb.google.com/restovette63 :icon_cheers: Jim |
Jim,
thanks for signing on and welcome aboard:thumbsup: Very happy to have you. You'll see a lot of familiar faces from other places here:thumbsup: That car is unbelieveable and the amount of quality work is astounding!! I plan on seeing it in person sooner rather than later! Keep on posting the pics, we love 'em and again, :welcome:aboard:wavey: Gordon |
Welcome aboard!
Sounds like a labor of love with a little bit of "failure to surrender" thrown in. Hope to see you around sometime. |
:welcome: to the forum. I think the Orlando club is very active. Check them out and see if it fits for you. Nice restoration on the 63.

thanks all.
Unfortunately I can't lay claim to doing any of the actual work on the car...but most importantly to this list is that the work is being done by a local shop here in Maitland, FL. Robby and his team at Corvette Masters have brought this project back from the brink and have made it far better than I ever imagined. Here are a couple vids I have of the car (1 of the cars first startup, and the other of me driving like a spaz on the first drive, a bit out of practice on a stick shift and something in the range of 400 hp)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7xNZTHsrN8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3zyCFiheqk :icon_cheers: |
Jim, your car sounds sweet and appears to be a blast to drive which is what a Corvette is all about. It was weird to see a car at a light that turns green and not hear a horn, then I remembered your in Maitland and not South Florida, home of the impatient snowbird happy horn honking club :rofl1:

:welcome: nice project hope to see some :pics: when shes done:thumbsup:

Welcome Jim, GREAT Vette

Welcome! Robby has a great shop, no doubt. Only place that I'll get any work done that I don't want to tackle myself. I think I remember seeing your car on the lift when mine was also in there.
Hope to see you at some local shows. |
Thanks guys! The car has stalled a bit...waiting on the last few details...trying to get it in to the body shop to have the doors aligned/repaired as they leak like a mfer when I wash or leak test the car...then once those are done it is off to have carpet thrown in...
I get to see what I can do with the paint once all that is done...more that one person who knows cars/paint work has made the comment "if I were you I'd scuff that paint up and paint her HotRod black"...so my guess is they think/know the paint is fubar..at this point I'll settle for a 10 foot paint job or HotRod black, just as long as I can bring the thing home and drive it on a regular basis...I'll fix the paint down the line... Cheers! J |
