CAI

In the next month or so I plan on adding a cat back and cold air induction.
There are quite a few cai systems available what do you look for or what is a good one. I'm not really concerned about hp increase :lmao: I just want something to help what's already there perform better.
Also does adding a cai effect computer settings?
Thanks

Hey Rick,If your not looking for a large amount of hp,then just change your filter to a better brand,K&N or something like that. And no it won't effect your settings. With your cat-back system,Most of them will give you 5-10 hp,but it all come down to want sound you are looking for.

I have a Callaway Honker, which is probably one of the best, and certainly one of the most expensive units. If I had it to do over I think I would have found a used Z06 air cleaner assembly (very cheap), drilled some extra holes in it, changed to a better filter element, and let it go at that.

IMNSHO, most of the aftermarket "CAI" systems are worse than a stock unit that has had the inlet opened up. Many will make power stay the same or go backwards. A few are worth a few horsepower.

No tuning changes required.

Rick, Did you get a look at the intake on my car? Very simple but it works.
As for the exhaust, you heard my Borla's, so do you want more or less sound out the back. For me personally, I would like more sound than I get from this cat-back exhaust, but this is Debs' driver, I have to keep it smooth.

A lot of things come with old age and my memory loss is a big one. I remember listening to your car, but I just can't remember the sound :shrug01: I want a good rumble at idle and take off. Cruising I want to listen to my CD's, but still know it's there. I live in an apartment complex and I have to consider my neighbors... yea like they consider me. :lmao:
Again the memory thing, I can't remember hoods being open. If you're meeting for lunch on the 9th, I'll take a couple pics, but don't think that will help with the sound.

I've been...

shopping for a CAI for many months. Reading up on quite a few of them and listening to testimonies from fellow Vetter's. Still, I haven't "pulled the trigger".
Seems like the HP gain wouldn't even be noticeable till I'm well over the speed limit anyway:shrug01: . I guess if it increased my fuel economy (noticeably) while just cruising, I'd go for it for that reason alone.
So, has anyone noticed an increase in their fuel economy with a new CAI?
