my new old vette

well I just bought my first vette. It is a 1988 red convertable. The price was right BUT...

alarm not working correctly
radio seems to function but no sound.
left headlight gets hung up and won't open unless I raise the hood, then works fine. (new bushings maybe?)
anti-lock brake (ABS) light is on.
when i fist take off, rythmic squeek from left rear tire area. (u-joint maybe or wheel bearing)
now light banging from left rear tire upon HARD acceleration.
and last but not least, the dash dissappears ocassionally, seems to be temperature related, been cold the last couple of days, no problem but a few days ago when it was warm out, it just dropped out, no insterment gauges at all. seems dim during the day and a lot brighter when I turn on my lights.
still all in all, its a vette and looks pretty good.
should have some pics soon, and my repair manual so I can get started I guess.

ohh no A/C as well compressor blown.

but the price was too low to pass up.
Some of the work i can do, but in some places i am in over my head.

but i am still proud of my vette
Phil

:welcome: to the site. Sounds like you have yourself a fun project ahead of you fixing the problems. But it should all be worth it in the end when you have everything running A-OK!

:welcome: to the site! There's several car shops that participate here on the forum regularly, that i'm sure would chime in to help with any questions.
Not to mention other members.

:welcome: to the site!

I can tell you from my experience restoring my '69, the satisfaction you will feel as you complete each of these items will be amazing! Buying a new Vette is great (I have done this too), but bringing a Vette back to the condition it is supposed to be in will give you a special bond with that car! If it was an early C-3 I might be able to give you some advise, but I am clueless on C-4s. Good luck, and enjoy the ride!

Welcome, and goodluck on your project. I do most all of my own work on my car and I can tell you that any work you are able to complete yourself just makes the car that more personal.
I too am having a hard time uploading a picture. Please let me know if you figure out an easy way to do it.
