How do you start a Corvette Car Club?
Hey everyone
This my first time on here, and I have to tell you, there is a lot of info in here, but I have two questions maybe someone can help me with. I'm from Mexico Beach Fl, which is about 30 east of Panama City. I know they have a nice corvette club there, but I and several others want to start a "Forgotten Coast Corvette Club" which will include 2 counties in Florida (Gulf & Franklin). Any Help would be grateful. Thanx Bill |
Another question...
I saw up north, one of the state got an official Corvette license plate.
How do we get one down here in Florida? I know every corvette owner would get one! I would. |

As far as starting your own club, I don't think there is any particular procedure you need to follow. Just decide you are going to do it, and then DO it. That's how this site got started. And quite likely, that is exactly how every other club got started as well. Hope to see you around sometime. Got any pics of your ride? The troops will be asking for them shortly.... |
Get started
I started a club in Columbus, Ohio in 1967 and have been a member of a club since. I currently belong to Bay Area CC, Clearwater. Two great sites to visit for more info are: www.corvettesnccc.org and www.ncccsouth.com . They will give you some insights on the subject. It's great to have a sponsor. Go to the local Chevrolet dealers in the area and sell them on the idea. It is a proven fact, the largest selling Corvette dealers sponsor a club. Our sponsor in Ohio was Bob McDorman and here in Clearwater it is Dimmitt Chevrolet. Two of the largest dealers in the US. Dimmitt supports us by giving us a monthly "allowance" and 10% discount on all parts and labor at their dealership. Of course, they give us a "last look" at any auto purchases. Once a year they sponsor our Dimmitt/BACC Corvette show. This year is our 10th annual They have been our sponsor since 1970. Go to cruise in's, other places where cars gather and start talking it up. You would be surprized how many other Vetters want to get together. NCCC will help you set up some by-laws, rules and other items you will need to survive. Both of the clubs I've belonged to choose to join NCCC because of the rule book they print and the insurance they offer. Once you get started you will want to put on events and the rule book will offer helpful suggestions. Any other questions PM me. And - good hunting!!

Hey Rick,
I believe it was yours - I just remember seeing the Logo on the windshield. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to start the club in Port St Joe / Apalachicola Florida. Bill |
Thanks for the info - I will check out the websites.
Bill and Karen |
Well heck, the wife and I may join your new club. Apalach isn't all that far from us.......... Maybe we'll be your first charter members.
We tend to see a couple of vettes in Apalach whenever we go there. Been hoping some would see the decals on the car and be curious enough to check in here. |
