hooters on Gandy and car gathering night

I was at Hooters today on Gandy blvd just over the Gandy bridge in south Tampa, and asked the manager what it takes to have a car gathering night there once a month. We'd have to choose Monday through Thursday. Im looking at breaking up the week a little and having it on a wednesday. It wont be a car show per say with prizes, but it would be a couple hours of cars, brew, wings, and Oh ya the Hooter Girls. How many of you would be seriously interested in once a month gathering?
 
Is it going to be limited to Corvettes only, open to all makes or any domestic (domestic powered?) vehicle?

Regardless, it sounds like a great time:thumbsup:

I posted it on a couple of corvette forums, LSx type forums, New Gen5 camaro forums and a local drag racing forum. all that support american made vehicles. I love old muscle as much as new. I didnt want any ricers so I left it off a local racing forum for imports.

Something to do now that the cooler weather has arrived.

Sounds like fun I am in. But the livein girlfriend was reading over my shoulder andd opened the post and got pissy at me just at the mention of Hooters girls.

I finally remembered to call back the manager yesterday. Im going there this morning for more details and what's involved.

Ill let you knows know what we come up with, but I may put it off till after the new year unless I can put something together the week of December 20th.

Im looking for a once a month wing and a cruise in :dancer01:

It sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to it again.

The only issues we ever experienced when we used to hold our weekly, then monthly F-Body events, were idiots that couldn't control thier throttle foot in or coming out of the parking lot:rolleyes:

Thier escapades left a bad taste in peoples mouths, and with families and kids in the restaurant, there were some complaints. Management finally shut it down:nonod:

Hopefully, everyone will behave as adults, or be asked to leave.

I used to take the wife to a lot of the events.

I spoke with manager Peter this morning. What he is looking for is a cruise in on a Wednesday from 6p-10p to hang out and talk cars. Obviously you dont have to be there at 6p or stay till 10p. The parking lot is nice sized with overflow parking on a paved empty lot next to the Hooters building. Im looking at the second Wednesday of each month starting on January 12th.

I think it will be a fun time and the Hooter girls are just a plus!

So I guess im looking at :
January 12th
February 9th
March 9th
April 13th
May 11th
June 8th
July 13th
August 10th
September14th
October 12th
November 9th
December 14th............Then someone else can take over the planning.

No imports just muscle cars.

I think it sounds like a great idea.

The 12th is our anniversary, so I don't think I'll make the inaugural show, but I'll catch up on the others. Then again, it's mid week. We usually don't do much anyway due to the kid and work.

FWIW, is the manager going to provide a cordoned off area for the show? If not, based completely on my experience, you're going to have a tough time keeping the import crowd away.
If they don't park "with" the show, they'll park nearby and be a PITA.

Any thoughts on that yet?
 
Technically not a show, just a drive in and meet and talked about modifications, hourse power, and wings lol.. No prizes awarded. just car talk.

The reason Im say no imports is because I dont want an 18 year old kid in his honda fart can, getting sideways in the parking lot. The manager and I agreed. Since business is very light on Wednesday night, the parking lot is ours. If a import shows up, we can stop him if he's going to eat there.

I agree with you 100% though.

I've known more than a few "ricers" if you will, who were well mannered and just like the vette and other muscle car guys and gals, enjoyed modifying thier cars for looks and performance.
Some have more $$$$ tied up in thier rides than some vette owners, and would never think of getting sideways in a crowded parking lot.

Then there are the other "ricers."
The "Fast and foolish" types, who think they need to show everyone what a front wheel drive burn out looks like:nonod:

There was also the "founder" of our F-body group that decided it was "cool" to do a smokey burnout in the drive, next to the drive through at Sonics on Fletcher:rolleyes::nonod:
The guy's in his late 50's +, and acting like a moron.

There was a guy and his family, with a little girl in the car, in the drive through when it happened. He was right next to this idiot!

He got out of his car and came over to the table where we were all sitting, wanting to know who the guy was? If he could have gotten his hands on him, he'd probably have hurt him badly:lmao::lmao:

God knows I wanted to dime this azzwipe out, but I didn't. Looking back, I should have given him his name, address and phone number:lmao:

Anyway, what I was getting at is azzwipes come in all brands.

That said, I like the idea of keeping it all muscle. Just wondered how you were going to do it?

Cool sounds like fun. Being on Gandy, I may stop by after work before heading up to WC. If I can remember and plan ahead to drive the vette to work that day instead of the truck :banghead:
