Dang it! Missed it again! Worm Grunting Festival

I can't believe I missed this again! Been wanting to go to this event in Sopchoppy, Florida for years now and for some reason I just keep on missing that date of the event.

The Worm Grunting Festival is one of the biggest events in this area, and certainly the largest in Sopchoppy. Actually, I think it is the ONLY event in Sopchoppy, but that's besides the point....

I guess it is just a morbid curiosity to see people actually purposely trying to coax earthworms out of the ground, but I understand that at one time it used to be a major industry, for Sopchoppy anyway..... Not sure what to expect at an event like this, but I SERIOUSLY doubt I would want to eat anything that was offered there that wasn't THOROUGHLY inspected. I guess the idea of a worm burger just gives my stomach butterflies.

Oh well, I guess maybe next year I will remember.

Oh yeah I need to find the date and mark it on my calendar for the Crawfordville Swine Festival as well............

Admission to the event was free! How could you miss it?

Well then I guess you'll want to be sure to get down to the Mullet Festival in Panacea in November! One of the highlights is the Mullet toss! And don't forget the Blue Crab Festival in Panacea, first saturday in May. You can enter the crab picking contest. I think the winner gets $100.00.

Well, I've been to a couple Blue Crab Festivals, but haven't been to a Mullet Festival yet. Probably will have to miss the Blue Crab because Connie is going to be at our niece's wedding that weekend. I have to stay at home because the critters are dropping eggs.

As for the crab picking contest, heck, if I'm picking crabs, I'm going to EAT what I pick. Now if it's FREE to enter the contest, stand back...... :hehehe:
