• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

2009 National Caravan to Bowling Green!

Captain EZ

Florida Captain, is that your identity?

Yes, Penn, that is my identity!

Everything is in the beginning stages of getting organized. I am meeting with 2 volunteers this week that have extensive insight as to the planning and workings of previous caravans. This is my starting point, and I will be adding updates to the NCM web site: http://www.corvettemuseum.com Go to EVENTS---2009 Caravan
or go directly to the Florida site: http://www.corvettecaravan.com/fl/

For all of you who have participated in previous caravans, you know what an incredible experience it is. For the rest of you, it is now the time to be planning to take that Labor Day week, 2009, off from work, and have the Corvette experience of a lifetime!

So far, I can tell you this.... besides the fun events that will take place on the way to Bowling Green, as well as the special events at the NCM, you will have the opportunity to tour the Corvette Assembly Plant, which is directly across from the museum.

As we get organized, we will know what areas we will need volunteers in. If you have past experience, and would like to volunteer for the 2009 Caravan, please contact me. If you know of anyone who would like to sponsor the Florida Caravan, please let me know that also. Sponsors are a very important part of this program. There are several initial start up costs involved (t-shirts, dash plaques, banners, printing, etc.) Any monies recovered beyond actual expenses goes directly to the NCM. Any ads/sponsors/donations for this event are fully tax deductible. There will be different "levels" of sponsorship.

I will keep you informed of our progress!

Ernie,

Congrats on your appointment. Looking forward to this event as I am sure many others are here in Florida. If there is anything we can help you out with, please let us know.

Armando,

Thanks for the reply. I am meeting with Linda on Sunday at your Immokalee show. Hope to see you there also!

Ernie

Hi Ernie
Congratulations again! I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend and I'm sure many of our club members are also. There are several corvette clubs in this area and all of them have members who were part of the previous caravans and are waiting to hear from the 2009 captain.

Linda

I participated in the 2003 caravan from New England , it was a great time, I highly recommend it, and I plan to participate in the 2009 event.

Mark

Mark,

The planning is beginning to fall into place, and it looks like we will once again have all points South and East, and other nearby communities of Tampa, meet at Ferman Chevrolet in Brandon for our kick off event. As more details become available, I will post a new thread.

Thanks for the post, look forward to seeing you there!

 I love a good plan :yesnod:

Ernie, how are things shaping up? Do you know if the schedule will imitate the 2003 caravan route (Lake City, Atlanta, Nashville, BG)? As I mentioned to you earlier, it would be great to buy some "hot laps" on the Atlanta Motor Speedway! What a "trip"!! Looking forward to any updates (must keep the excitement and momentum going!) and let us know if we can help in any way.

Barb

Barb,

I am expecting to know more about the scheduling in the next couple of days.

We are planning to have some type of track event, but it has not been finalized yet.

Hope to have word on that in the next couple of weeks.

EZ

Count me in for any hot laps wherever the track is determined! I had a great time doing hot laps in my C4, now I get to try it in the Z06!:dancer01:
