NCM Trip Advice

Road Trip!
Planning trip to NCM in mid October. Any advice on lodgings and attractions? Posted this on CF and got very little response.

:shrug01:

My wife and I are going to the NCM next month for the Z06 Fest. I'll probably have a little more info after that.

We are staying at the Baymont Inn. It's a couple of miles from the museum.
They've booked the whole place and then overflow to the Hampton Inn that shares the same parking lot. Here is a little info from the Z06Vette.com thread.

And the Baymont website.

I've booked my tour for the Bowling Green Assembly Plant also. You need to have a reservation. To do that, go here.

Here is Bowling Greens website.

As far as restaurants go, everyone seems to mention The Montana Grille. Can't help much there.

Hope this info helps. If you knew all of it already, then I just did this for nothing. :lmao:

I really liked Mammoth Cave when I was there. It's only a few miles away (and always nice and cool inside!).

I also stay at the Baymont or Hampton. Make sure you book a tour of the plant like Scott said. Can't help much with places to eat, either. But, there's an Outback close to those two hotels. In fact, there are plenty of places to eat on that exit.
You'll have a good time. When you go to the NCM try to find the two bricks our club has there. Here's a picture (not very well centered :D )

I bought one for me and one for Robert last year but have not yet had a chance to go see them. Maybe this year.
See you Tuesday

Linda, as someone else said ealier, Montana's is a very good place to eat. It has been about 6 years since we were there but, I seem to remember that they had outstanding cornbread that they delivered to the table in a cast iron skillet. We enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend it.

Still fighting my cable modem at home so, just jumping on every now an then when I get a chance from work!

I'll have to try Montana's next time I go. Hope you're up and running soon. You've got more patience than I would .....

Linda,

Thanks for noticing! But Joyce did not think I was too patient today when the vein in my temple was about to jump off the side of my head when the cable people called and said I had missed their call, but I was here. :ahh:

Anyway, the supervisor from Comcast got a technician out this evening and got me back on line. Finally! I have only been down for 8 days. I need to call tomorrow and have my bill credited for the lost time!

Did not even know this thread was still around. I did go, saw museum, factory tour, ate at Montana Grille, drove the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherahola. We had so much fun, we are doing it all again this October and we are not going alone this time. We also plan to drive some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, see grandfather mountain, Lynchburg, Mt Aery, etc.

  If I can plan my time correctly I should be able to drive the Dragon on the way to NCM for the CorvetteForum event over Memorial Day...we'll see.

In case you have not seen these websites yet, the are:

www.tailofthedragon.com (official tail website)

www.killboy.com (pic galleries of cars on the dragon). We are in the 10/18/06 gallery.

 Thanks Armando. I've been on the sites a few times. Now, I hope to get on the dragon itself! :yesnod:

We were just there in December when we picked up our 07 at the NCM. We stayed at the Holiday Inn just down the street from the Montana Grill. You will be about a 8-10 minute ride from the NCM if you stay there. The Holiday Inn was very nice and clean. I found out about the Inn from Gary at the NCM. He's the guy that sets up all the deliveries, etc. Have a great time.
Make sure you drive up to the entance of ther plant and take a pics of your car along the 100 ft. wall mural. It's really cool.

Thanks! Remind us again just before you go up there so we can watch the site  Do you know what time you're supposed to take delivery?

There is great, down home cooking at the Park Mammouth Resort, Park City.
It is located about 10-12 miles north of BG. The resort is old style but sits on top of a mountain. Window view in the evening is awesome.
I grew up there. Very much a country girl. Mammmouth Cave Park roads are great for touring and viewing. Nice drive..Worth the time to go through the Park.
