Hey Guys,

If any of you would like to watch and learn how to wet sand the orange peel or paint defects out of your clear coat, you can come down to Flash Auto Detail products in Largo.

I just painted my Black 86 vette and have to do alot of wet sanding. The results are very rewarding. I will be doing this Sat 6-21-08 from about 10am till around 4pm. I may be there on Sunday also. Take care.

PS Hey Rich Z, I wished you lived a little closer to me.

Yeah man! I would LOVE to see the techniques needed to do that. I bought all that stuff from you and STILL haven't used it at all...... :hide:

Hi Rich,

The grades of wet sand paper that I am using is 1200, 1500 and 2000. The lower the number, the most agressive the sand paper. I think 2000 would be good for you. Unless you have a lot of orange peel. The finer the sand scratches, the easier it is for the compound to buff out the wet sand scratches. Better results. I always start light, then go heavy if it needs it. When you wet sand, you are going to dull the clearcoat flat. But dont get scared because the buffer and compound will bring up the shine again. I will have Kellie take some pictures and maybe shoot a video of me wet sanding and buffing.I will send you the info. Well,
I have to go to my shop and start sanding. Talk to you later.

I wanted to do that to my 03 before I put the 3m film on it but was talked out of it. When I have to take the 3m off, I'm going for it!

Was going to come and watch..but the d--- rain ruined the day. Let us know if you plan to do it again. I would love to wet sand mine but scared to death of ruining the paint.

Hi Guys,

I am not done yet. It looks like there will be many weeks of wet sanding and buffing. Its not an easy job unless you want to half as* it. And I wont. I will put the car together, then wet sand the rest of it. Its very hard to buff free standing flexible parts. Especially when you are working by yourself with no help. I will put the car back together this week and start again on Saturday. Take care.
