Actually, I'm not really 100 percent certain what exactly the goal is of spammers. In many cases, even the links they provide wind up going to dead sites. And seriously, does anyone honestly think that if they can slip an ad in on you by spelling viagra something like "v!agr_a" that the reader will be so overwhelmed by the cleverness that they break down and BUY from them?
