I don't know. Sometimes I think they are being paid to advertise for companies, so they post ads wherever they can to meet an advertised quota for their services. Other times I think it's just to aggravate people. Then sometimes I think spam blocking companies and anti-virus program developers might be behind generating a market for their products. Or maybe all of the above.
