Been a while since I have used a storage unit, but do they offer any sort of insurance on the contents you place there or are you entirely on your own?
Hope you find out who did it and can PROVE it to the authorities.

Most of your higer end, gated, controlled access units do. I had just such a unit for several years.
CCTV cams all over the place and controlled access (althoug it was easy enough to breech the gat by simply pulling the cotter pin...ask me how I know
).
