The only time I have shot a raccoon was a long while back when a large one was in the front yard, middle of the day, and just acting VERY strange. If you see a raccoon or any other animal acting like this, I suggest staying FAR away from it.

One little nip by the animal, or any saliva in an open cut, and you could be in for a world of hurt.

I don't know if you have ever watching any documentaries about rabies, but that stuff is NOTHING to fool around with.
