Personally, I think the government should be strictly limited in power to ONLY those powers specifically granted by the US Constitution. This BS they pull by using the Commerce Clause as their justification for sticking their fingers into every facet of our daily lives flies in the face of what the original founders of this country had in mind when they created the Constitution.
I believe the one thing the founding fathers did not believe likely at the time was that a time would come when the people of this country would actually vote into office as representatives, people who would actively try to destroy what made this country great in the first place. So they made no provisions for "the people" to be able to actively correct such a mistake without waiting for the next election to come around. Or in extreme cases, bloodshed. The second amendment, of course, was the failsafe in case it got to the bloodshed stage............. At least the founding fathers DID recognize that people in power tend to want to stay IN power, regardless of the peoples' will or choice in the matter.
