I've used Amdro for quite a while now. But man, with the amount of property we have, it would cost a mint to treat every mound. When we first moved down here that agricultural department used to sell Amdro in bulk at a substantial discount from what you would pay for it at Lowe's or Home Depot. But they apparently discontinued that project. Maybe they feel that the ants have won the war.
Probably my most favorite fire ant mound treatment was putting a piece of pure sodium into the top of the mound and then squirting it with a hose from a distance. I think that REALLY pissed them off...........
