Yeah man. Playing with wood working and metal working machinery is an excellent way to lose fingers and hands. Getting outright killed isn't unusual neither. Before my mom died she was living with a guy who had lost two fingers on one hand doing wood working. Getting your clothing caught up in a milling machine or lathe can have fatal results if you get wrapped around the moving spindle and you can't reach the OFF button.

I had a moderate sized metal lathe on order for a while, but after being on backorder for around 6 months, I finally just cancelled out. Probably just as well, as I am getting back into playing keyboards, and it would just screw that idea up royally to lose a finger or two.

But this device sure does seem to have potential to save a lot of blood letting and lost appendages for people. I would guess it could have application in a whole lot of machinery where personal injury is a strong possibility.
