One statement I do disagree with is the one quoted below:

I believe that most restaurants, even those right ON the Gulf coast, even before the oil disaster, were selling mostly imported shrimp, simply because of PRICE. The imported stuff is MUCH cheaper than what they have to pay local fishermen.
So if it matters to you, ASK. If they say they don't know, then they are probably imported. And quite frankly, I believe because of the oil issue, restaurants will proclaim their shrimp as being imported, alluding to it as being a GOOD thing.
