I am a member of the Suncoast Corvette Association, and was involved with putting on a large Corvette show at the Days Inn when it reopened back in the mid 80's. The owner came to one of our meetings and pitched the idea of the Corvette show to be tied into the reopening of the motel/hotel. He actually had Matrin Milner and George Maharis at the two day show.

The final show of Route 66 was actually filmed here in the bay area and the old Sunshine Sky Way bridge was part of the show. As for the articles you are looking for, I wish I could help you, but I know nothing about them.
Good luck in your search, just thought this little bit of history on that location might help.

I still have the original program from the show, listing the hotel and showing pictures of the two actors.
