Default DIY Carbon Fiber roof installation process. Step By Step, acrylic panel removal

Hello everyone, I am going to show another Do It Yourself thread how to remove the acrylic panel from the OEM frame and install a Carbon Fiber one ( if you jointed Flying Roof Club)

I have this kind of panel and i am going to use the OEM aluminum frame to mount this bad boy.

Yes, someone jointed Flying Roof Club

Tools:
As you see, nothing special, couple hand tools and makita grinder.

Let's start.
First thing, you will need to remove all the hardware ( I did not do that, my bad!) Because you will need to put everything back.

Mask the area where you are going to make your cut. I will recommend to start from inside section.

To glue the skin to the frame, I am going to use the same adhesive as GM uses to glue there panels.
This adhesive is specially made to bond the metal to the fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Final prep of the frame before applying the adhesive.

As you can see, I made some extra cuts in the frame to let the adhesive to grab better.

The acrylic is around 18-19lb
The carbon fiber one ( carbon top and aluminum frame) is around 13-14lb. The scale shows 12lb, that with no hardware, no latches

Good job!

Certainly nothing I would want to do myself, though. Certainly FAR above and beyond my expertise level.
