I expect that the wheel manufacturer would be the one that would know. The only
way I would think you could find out is to try to spin them up on a balance machine
without the tires and without the sensors. See how out of balance they
are, then insert the sensor and try again. :shrug01: Bottom line is that they
have to be balanced no matter what, "so just git 'er done"!

That's what I'm doing Andy and I agree.

So where are the stick on weights applied to the wheel? The rim face on either side or on the inside barrel (behind the spokes) of the wheel itself?

The reason I asked is I was thinking of putting several coats of good polish on the barrels to protect them from brake dust however if that's where the wheel weights will go I would think it would inhibit a good "stick".

I've normally seen them on the inside close to the spokes. But if the wheel would be a LOT out of balance, there could also be weights applied inside towards the center of the car. They *SHOULD* clean the surface before applying the weights, but don't count on it being done adequately. I had to take back my wheels when the weights just dropped off while the wheels were sitting in my garage to have them put on again.

BTW a *good* shop, seeing a wheel a LOT out of balance will try to rotate the tire on the wheel to help with the balance. They are balancing both the wheel and the tire, so if the out of balance spot on both winds up at the same place, that can make the tire/wheel combo a LOT out of balance. By offsetting the tire 180 degrees on the wheel that can often greatly reduce the balance problem. So if you see a lot of weights having been applied, ask them if they did that instead of just loading up the lead weights on your car.

OK, good information. I will make note and discuss them with the service mgr. prior to anything being done on the mounting and balancing issue.

Guess I'll stay away from any polish for a while and see where things get located.

Hey Ken. Looks like your mods are really coming along. You might want to consider changing brake pads to Ceramic if you haven't done them yet. I switched to Hawk pads recommended by Auto XTC and they've been awesome and very little brake dust my friend!!!! And no noticeable change to stopping power or fatigue either. :thumbsup:

Good advice! :thumbsup: When I need pads again, I'm going with the ceramic ones as well.
Probably do the Hawk ones as I've heard nothing but favorable comments about them, AND,
I'm sick and tired of all the brake dust from my current pads!

When I changed out my rotors and painted my calipers a couple ah three months ago I switched to ceramic pads. I can't recall the brand at the moment but brake dust has been nearly non existent since and stopping power is very nice.

Hope to receive the center caps for my new wheels tomorrow and will schedule an app't. for the wheel swap either late this week or early next.

I do and I like the additional information provided. I now have auto sensor headlamps too. I prefer manual and have reset as such.

The install was first class with not a single mar anywhere. They ride sweet and they look great. I am glad I followed your good advise and just pressed ahead.
