Bill proposed to BAN radar detectors in Florida

I agree a radar detector is speed trap buster. But the common man should have some way to fight back. The cop that stopped me Sunday said that if it passed it would be a secondary offense.In other words they cannot stop you for having a radar detector..

When I first moved to FL some 10 plus years ago, my brother told me my 74 Charger was a cop magnet, that i'll be pulled over in the 1st week. Sure enough, the day I pulled it off the u-haul trailer and took it for a drive, I got pulled over . I was doing 55 on a two lane hwy and a cop was coming from the other direction, assuming he was doing 55mph that's 110mph combined. He swung around and hit his lights (about a quarter of a mile behind me). He said the sticker on my rear license plate was expired, that's why he pulled me over. HOW COULD HE HAVE SEEN THAT ITTY BITTY STICKER AT THOSE SPEEDS ? anyway, I explained to him that TX no longer uses the Lic plate sticker, they went to the window decal instead.

The Moral of this story is...They'll find a reason to pull you over regardless if the offense they're trying to bust you for is secondary or not.
