Trouble @ Vette Fest III

Mr. Blue

New member
We had a wonderful time at Old Town all day long and the Vette was a hugh hit in the evening muscle car cruise. It was a great day until it was time to leave that evening.
The Vette pushed over the wheel stops as I pulled onto the trailer and droped off the front of it smashing the nose on the tongue and front fender flairs on those 'stops'. It also caught the rear fender flair on the trailer wheel cover too so LOVE will need a lot of attention. Waiting to hear back from Grundy Insurance. Can't blame anyone but myself...I was the driver. :banghead:View and weep with me.

Sorry about your car,I'd be Freak'n and Slamm'n stuff around for a month!! :D:D:D

Major OUCH!! :ack2: Man, REALLY sorry to see damage like that.... :nonod:

Oh Man, that hurts. I am sorry to see that happen.
I had a similar problem when getting the Vette on the trailer for the trip from New Jersey to Florida but thank God the stops didn't dig into the body of the car.
Sorry, Glenn. Hope the insurance company takes care of it.
Lou

Insurance

Thanks guys.
Looks like it may be a stress free incident for me.
Grundy Insurance contacted me this morning and I have NO deductible, so no $ hit there for me.
They have no problem where I take it and I've been in touch with Phil Somers @ American Supercars over in Hudson, Fl., (the people who built that super wild V-7 Twin Turbo rear engnined '63 that won GM's Excellence award this past SEMA show), so it will get quality repairs that I won't have to worry about. The new future owner who is about to buy the car said he has no problem with the damage as long as the repairs are up to the quality of the current car, so looks like it's a 'minor' bump in the road, if you can call such a thing minor.
I'll keep you guys posted as things go along.

Oh, on another UP note, I just got my Vette Vues Magazine for November and there is a 3 page spread, some in color, of Love Is Blue. Great job, "Dragon". Thanks, Glenn

Glenn, I really like pictures, BUT JUST NOT LIKE THAT! I'm sure that Blue will be repaired, but have you given any thought to modifying the trailer to be sure that the same thing doesn't happen again? I'd like to hear (and see) what you come up with. Good luck with the repair process, and keep us updated with pictures of the work being done.
It's OK BLUE :itsok:, Glenn will have you lookin good in no time!

Andy, if I was keeping the current set up I'd be changing things, but as far as raising the stops in the front, they can't be any higher because the front body work sits so low to the ground. In all these years, it's never happened before, but then, I use to drive it more than I do these days with gas so high.
However, just saw on the news that gas is down to $3.09 in Zellwood!! Great news. :dancer01:Hope it keeps going down. At least that's one good thing to come out of this depression!

Sorry

Glenn:
Sorry about your damages.............Please tell me you can get it fixed before the "Ultimate Corvette Party".........:D.

:hehehe: Jim :hehehe:

Jim, I can't say for sure. :shrug01:
I sure as hell can't rush the body shop if I want quality repairs...and I do!
I'll let you know how it goes along later. I don't know how extensive the damage is underneath to the glass, (stress) but the time frame is getting too short it looks like. don't know if it can be done by mid November if it's more than just the fender flairs and nose. Everytime I look at it I find more damage. Sorry. We'll see.:nonod:

Damn Glenn, I'm glad you have good insurance and the soon to be owner is understanding. I was trembling when you loaded Blue in Bradenton. Hope the repairs go smooth

... I was trembling when you loaded Blue in Bradenton. Hope the repairs go smooth

Me too! That was the worst experience I've ever had loading (except for Saturday when I went off the trailer).
I'll never try to drive up on the trailer while the tow vehicle is not straight ahead like it was in Bradenton. That really made for an exciting time for sure. It usually is a real easy ride up the trailer and into place with the only danger being how close the fenders are to the trailer fender as I go by them. Guess it's time to quit for sure! I feel like all those old people who hit the gas instead of the brake and go through walls, except I didn't hit the brake! :lmao:
