President’s Message:

WOW…That was some Club meeting. We have 9 new members and we welcome all of them. It will be great to get to know them during the next year and add their Vettes to the Southwest Florida Corvette Club family.

WOW…that is some new sponsor we have…America’s First Homes and Gene’s business associates are great to work with and they are as enthusiastic as we are to be working together.

WOW…That was some Cruise-in and Car show on February 13 that we conducted in Ft. Myers. 69 cars…meeting old friends and greeting new ones. Next year it will be bigger and better. Thanks to all who worked hard to make it a success.

WOW…We have one great website. Thanks to Linda Duschl and her hard work, we have something to be proud of. www.swflcorvetteclub.com Send this to friends and family, I’m sure they will be interested in what we do as a Club.

We have a full plate coming up for the next couple of months. Hope everyone will be able to join us for all the events in which we will be participating.

And lastly…our next meeting will be a blast…please make sure you’re there, March 20th, the THIRD Tuesday of the month. Let’s have a full house.

Judy Galewski

Meeting Minutes for February 20, 2007

The meeting was called to order by
Judy Galewski at 7:00 PM.

January’s newsletter stands approved as circulated.

Introduced our new members. We were found through our Web site and from the Festival of Lights Cruise – In Event. Welcome folks, we’re happy that you
are here.

TREASURER REPORT -

Sue Burch: Read our current expenses and balance. If anyone would like a copy of the report, please contact Sue.

VP WAYS & MEANS -

Marshall Lieberman: We have 46 members and 38 cars. Also, Marshall has been in touch with several companies to come to our meetings to give a 15 – 20 minute talk. They are – Steve Leonard with Rev Extreme, Richard Hoffman with Hoffman Tuning and Phil Babcock with Phils Classic Car.
The club voted on having guest speakers. A motion was made by Rudy and seconded by Guy.

Also, the club has been invited to the grand opening of the restaurant – Mr. Burrow in the Allenpark Shopping Center on the 10th of March.

GOVERNOR’S REPORT –

Bev Dobbins: Checked with the members that belong to the NCCC, if they were receiving the Blue Bars Book and packet. Also, due to increased costs, the NCCC is trying to operate within their budget, they decided to cut back on the perks. The members with a spouse also in the NCCC, would receive only one pin and one calendar. They have saved $7,300 by cutting back.

Also, Bev explained that we are required to have 51% of our members in the NCCC and how the money is split between the club and NCCC. We have insurance coverage for a million dollars for our events and activities by being a member. Marshall Lieberman signs our members up for the NCCC. Glen Hutchinson, the Regional Executive of the NCCC indicated that he is still looking into these changes.

Corvettes of Naples are arranging to have a bus go to the next Governor’s Meeting in March. This will be Glen’s first meeting in his new position as the Regional Executive and they are looking for a big turnout to support him. If you would like to go with the group, contact Glenn at
N2vettes @earthlink.net.

OLD BUSINESS

Judy thanked Linda Duschl for a beautiful Web site. Everyone is thrilled with the way it looks. Linda is doing a great job. Thank you!!!!!.

Congratulations to Eileen & Rudy on becoming the proud grandparents of twin boys. We wish you and your family all the best.

Some of our members attended the event in Old Town – January 19 – 21st. They had a great time and if you haven’t had the chance to go, put it on your calendar for next year.

Judy thanked Armando for the great job he is doing with the Corvette Forum. He is keeping everyone out there informed of other events in the area.

February 3rd, we had our garage sale and Debbie & Ernest were very nice about letting us invade their home again – Thank you!!!!
The food was YUMMY –
Elaine brought her sticky buns and they
were sticky !!!
Bill came with his famous Bloody Mary
drinks and they were really bloody!!!
Judy made her delicious breakfast buns
and we all know what we think about
Judy’s buns!!!

Also, a big thank you to everyone that donated items and worked the garage sale. Even though the weather was rainy and cold, we had some laughs, good company, delicious food and drinks and made a few dollars.

On Saturday, February 3rd, Joanne & Dan, Bev, Suzie, Judy & Bill, Joan & Dom had a table set up at Centennial Park. They were passing out flyers to promote the Cruise – In
Event on February 13th.

CLUB SHIRTS -

You can see Debbie to place your order for club shirts. The cost is $30 and there are sample shirts for you to check sizing.

NEW BUSINESS -

Linda and Armando provided some information about the Corvette Forum & the site Corvette Florida.com

There is a link to the forum at the top of page 1 of the events Section of the newsletter. Consider bookmarking the site. It contains a lot of good information.

Armando gave a re-cap of some events that were arranged through the forum –
January 27 – Reflections in Glass in Boca
There was a first & second place winner
in the C6 & C5 categories. No names
were given (Gee do you think it may
have been Armando & Jim?)

February 3 - Everglades Seafood
Festival. There were between 17 –
19 cars that joined up to enjoy the
ride and eat some good food

February 11 – Quarter Deck Cruise
Inn. They had between 40 – 60
Corvettes and at one point there were
about 40 vettes cruising together on
the turnpike.

February 24 – The Swamp Cabbage
Festival. This is a real down home
event. Armando will provide more
information on the Forum.

Linda is in contact with the folks that are working on the 2009 National Corvette Homecoming Event in Bowling Green, KY. Keep this date open – August 10, 11, & 12, 2009. She has offered to assist with coordinating with the people in our area.
More details will be coming.

Run flats are now available from
Firestone under the name Fire Hawk
Armando indicated that they are a good tire and run much quieter.

Don’t forget – Daylight Savings Time
is Sunday, March 11th
ROAD RALLY –

The Old “Vette
By Roger Wisniewski.

Oh what a joy to wake up and see
This coup, sitting there, waiting for me.

Getting in or out isn’t as easy as it once was
Sure gives the neighbors a chuckling buzz.

The key is in and the engine lights up
with a roar
Back out and down the street careful not to put it to the floor.

On the highway she cuts a slick figure with
ease.
No finer warmth than to feel that breeze.

Those young kids with their hot cars and gals
close by
But as I drive past, it is this “Vette that catches her eye.

A few Corvettes before and how I remember
that ‘ 65 blue

My heart is here now, with my Stingray –
