Default Headers installed!

Well it's no big turbo numbers but I am pretty happy with my new headers. Corrected for temp, humidity, and Pressure Altitude the car produced. 537 WHP and 525 FT Lbs of torque. 400 Ft Lbs of torque at 2700 rpms. The headers picked up 30hp and 24 FT LBs.

Uncorrected was 5521hp and 510 ft lbs
SAE 516.5 505 ft lbs

I wanted to test the CHEAP OBX headers. I did cryo them, to lessen the chances of the stress cracks, and I had them jet coated. Finally, for fitment, I had them decked.

It is a bout a 5 hour job to do and needs a bit of heat wrapping but well worth the $650 I paid. I also welded the x-pipes instead of using the cheap exhaust clamps.

Not near what you are going to get but it will have to do for now. My guys keep temping me to do a twin turbo setup but I know what that leads to. A built motor and 1200hp

1200hp looks good on paper, but I think it would be troublesome on the street. Not to mention downright dangerous. Yeah, you could break the tires loose at 100 mph on the freeway, but going sideways in traffic at that speed is probably not a real good idea. Tracy at RevXtreme had a blue C5 on his lot for sale for the longest time that was putting out that kind of power. The owner drove it once, did just what I mentioned above, and it scared him so bad he never wanted to drive it again. So he put it up for sale.

My C5Z was putting out around 533 rwhp and that was a pretty hefty amount of oomph. I'm hoping that the new engine doesn't turn out to be more than I want to chew, after all this time....

I agree Rich. These cars with bolt-ons, head work and a cam are 10 second cars all day long. Even at this they are very drivable. My Supra I had was more power but not very drivable. 4k-7k was insane and rapped up so fast that you bounced off the limiter. Not fun to daily.

I think I will stay NA for awhile!
