Default 4 speed shifter 1975 Replace? Rebuild?

I installed the stock shifter that was part of a conversion pkg I bought, and after the install I see it is super sloppy, so much so, that it has to be replaced, or minimally refurbished. I couldn't tell when it was out of the car, or perhaps I didn't look closely enough.

With that said, I am looking to get a used Hurst shifter for a BW Super T-10 that's in very good shape, and at a decent price. If I can't get a good used one, then it's off to the vendor websites for a new one.

So this is actually a two-purpose post. I'm looking for a shifter, and for comments about whether to rebuild ($60 refurb kit) or replace ($200 - $250 new shifter kit). I plan to keep the car.

Thank you
