CorvetteConti.com has an interesting quote from a participant of the National Corvette Museum's Performance Tour II. During the tour, the group was treated to a Blue Devil/SS "Fly-By".

You could hear the car approaching, going thru the gears, it sounded like a jet airplane.""We were told we were the first Civilians to see the car. In the Track Rats trailer there was a assignment board with words just as BASE and yes ZR-1. Way TO SOON! Rumors are germany will not allow an "SS" to be tested do to the Nazi affliliation. So badge it Blue Devil in Europe."
So there you have it. Another eyewitness of GM's plan to resurrect the ZR-1 designation as reported last week by Motor Trend. There was one aspect the of the ZR-1 story that I failed to connect last week when Motor Trend broke the news. Back on January 1st of this year, we posted a story about GM renewing the ZR-1 trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In that post, it was reported that a trademark extension was filed on December 5, 2006 for the purpose of allowing GM the use of the moniker for merchandise and accessories related to the ZR-1 Corvette. A previous renewal was also made on November 3, 2006 for the ZR-1 trademark for the use of "Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles". So it appears the plan for resurrecting the ZR-1 name has been in motion for quite some time.
