Default Painting Information

Where does one find information on just what to paint what color in a '62? For example, is the inside if the deck lid body color or blackout? How about the inside of the trunk?

Any input appreciated...thanks.

Hope this helps:
Prior to the 1963 model Corvette, no paint identification code was affixed to the Corvette body. Also two-tone paint was no longer available.
Colors for 1962:
Roman Red
Sateen Silver
Almond Beige
Ermine White
Honduras Maroon
Fawn Beige Metallic
Tuxedo Black
Cadillac Royal Heather Amethyst[Purple]-Rare color

I would go to the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) an get yourself a Judging manual for your '62. I am not suggesting that you necessarily get involved with NCRS, but there is a ton of information that is available to you in that manual.

As BM mentioned, there was not a trim tag attached to the chassis that would give you information, such as, exterior color, interior trim color, etc. But, back in those days they did mark the bodies prior to them being painted. If I remember correctly, on the bulkhead just behind the passenger seat, they would put a letter indicating the color with a grease pencil. You actually have to carefully remove the paint on the bulkhead to reveal the grease pencil marking.

I hope that helps, and that my memory is accurate.

Good luck with your search.

Rich

Thanks to both of you for the input...I will get the NCRS book to learn more about how it should be.
