Default Spectacular Show @ STP Yacht Club

Check this out. The note is a little long but it will give you a flavor for this incredible show. Some may want to enter, but others may want to cruise down.

If you are interested in the latter, send me a PM with your email address. I am trying to organize a cruise of several cars.

Hi Tom,
I hope you can bring some friends to the show this year. Last year we had 85 cars, and we are being told that this year we could have in the 200 car neighborhood. This year the person in charge of the field set-up is doing the arranging by marque and as we don't know how many cars will be in each catagory, he is spacing out the whole park. (Yacht Club's park)

This year, we are even having a catagory for real pre '79 race cars (which I was told to be ready for a least 16 of those, plus the Grand Prix Race Car Display) and we are also adding antique motorcycles and scooters etc.

Then, the Yacht Club is extending their tables and chairs, as it is open to the public.

We also have several committee folks that are traveling to other shows (Zephyrhills, Lakeland, Sarasota) as well as the Gulfport show (now held in PP) and St. Armonds Key to solicit more of the same type of car we had last year.

We can't be sure, but think we could have quite a large show.

I would say that the best place to park (if you are not an entrant) would be along Beach Drive (either side) or on Bayshore maybe where the marina parking is. Of course, earlier in the day there is going to be more parking along the street.

The City has reserved the parking along Bayshore right next to our field for visiting cars with trailers. There is also parking in the Progress Energy or Baywalk parking garages, about 1block away. This year we have also filled the Hampton Inn the night before, and its garage.

Interesting, we have some interest in a black-tie fund raiser by one of the charities complete with vintage cars in a hall just prior to the event next year, and a cocktail party at the Yacht Club on the night before etc.

This is eventually going to be quite a deal.
See you there.
Bill
