Default Hello Boys and Girls

Great to see a forum for us FL maniacs.
As some of you know I have been tuning for Greg for a couple and a half years.
I keep no secrets so any of you that are learning to tune your own cars I am more than willing to help anyway I can.
It still comes down to air, fuel, and spark. We just use a laptop now instead of a timing light and screwdriver.
Also let it be known we are not limited to Corvettes.
We have the software to tune all gen 3 and gen 4 cars and trucks.
We just tuned up a chopped, channeled, LS1 67trim powered 51 Ford pickup for BMR Fabrication that they took on the Hot Rod Power Tour.
A 2005 2500HD Silverado rolled out of the shop with a 54 rwhp and 40 rwt from just a PCM tune.

I walked a customer in CO through the tuning of his STS TT Z06 and when done got better than 530 rwhp on the dyno...

For those of you with the A6 trans we can also tune the engines but at this time we are still locked out of the trans.

Hi Tom! Good to see you here.

I guess what is important to me is the seat of the pants feel rather then any absolute numbers on a dyno. Throttle response helps with this FEELING of power that I think gets my attention more then anything else.

I have a Shaner ported and polished throttle body which did seem to help in that department, but what, tuning wise, would you suggest to enhance the SOTP effect? I guess we are talking more about low and midrange changes in this case, eh?

BTW, I am using a Diablo Predator if you can direct your comments with that in mind. I'm a newbie, so be gentle with me and use baby words, please.

Thanks.

For throttle responce fuel trims have to be in order and a smooth spark table.
The stock spark table has alot of spikes in it, when smoothed with a program such as hptuners or ls1 edit it wakes up the whole car.

Here is a 2D gragh of a stock Z06 spark table.

Here is the same table smoothed for throttle responce.

There are a couple of other things that will affect throttle responce.
IATs will pull timing and sometimes stainless steel headers will give you false knock and pull timing......................

Hmm, interesting. I have LG Motorsports Pro headers on my Z and, of course, they are stainless. Also Jet Hot coated. Will this "false knock" show up during live data monitoring? And if so, which rpm range would be most affected?

Can the spark table be adjusted at all with the Diablo Predator? I don't see anything that fine tuned in the hand held. But would one rpm range be more likely to affect throttle response?

Thanks.

no way to smooth the table with the pred.
and don't get me wrong about the headers it's not common but can and has happened especially if the afr is rich.....

Hello Tom, good to have someone her that knows about tunning. I am getting to that point were the car will benefit from a good custom tune.
