Cool Has anyone seen those monitor lizzards in the news lately?

Supposedly there are supposed to be a whole bunch around the cape coral/punta gorda area that are causing havoc to the bird sanctuaries. My dad saw one on his way home from work the other day and said it had to be at least 6 feet long. I have yet to see one, but i do believe they tend to stay away from populated areas. However, a lady down the street from us found one in her backyard with her dog according to the newspaper. I would love to see that fight

Florida has a whole mess of established non native critters. Reptiles are just part of it. And it is not only a recent event, either.... Many have been stowaways in cargo, especially fruits and vegetables. There are MANY lizards in this state that are not native here. Matter of fact, the Cuban brown anole has just about eradicated the native green anole (chameleon) throughout most of Florida because it has out competed it. Yep, all those brown lizards you see basking every day are NOT natives.....
