The wife and I headed out of Tallahassee around noontime, heading north... Love bugs are REAL BAD in that area. We are in the Astro van and the front is literally plastered with dead bugs. Had to spend a good 10 to 15 minutes cleaning the windshield when we stopped for gasoline. I guess I had better put some slickum on the vette before I take it out again. It is amazing that so many bugs are willing to give up their lives simply to piss me off.....

I was hoping for another "lite" season" like we had in May of this year. At least it was relatively lite around here on the Nature Coast. There's a big Corvette show this Saturday (tomorrow) in Clearwater at Dimmitt Chevrolet and it's a 2 hour drive down there. Might make it down there early in the morning without too many hits from those damn bugs but hate to think what the Vette will look like after the 2 hour ride home in the late afternoon.

I absolutely hate love bugs.
this is what's nice about a FL forum...folks who understand those little sacs of acid that hang stupidly in the air almost waiting to get squished by a car.
I sure hope they're gone soon, by the 8th at the latest would work for me.

I just put a coat of wax (carnauba) on the Z today as I am planning on driving down to Seffner this upcoming weekend. I got quite a collection of love bugs this weekend driving out route 10 headed east, and I want some extra protection on the car.
You know, the slower you drive, the lesser the problem they are. Not sure what the "squish speed" is for them, but I think you can lessen the chances by keeping the speeds down. Or just follow REAL closely to the vehicle in front of you. Let them clear the path for you...

They don't seem so bad down here this year. But, the husband is on business up in Lake City and southern Georgia and said they were really, really bad. He said he started noticing them above Tampa. Had to wash the car (the Trans Am not the vette) every night after traveling to get the bugs off.

Actually I do use Rejex, but haven't applied a coat of it lately. According to the directions, you shouldn't use it when temps are above 85 degrees. Which, of course, in Florida means a good proportion of the year.
That's why I went with the Carnauba wax this time. Planning on driving down to Seffner this weekend for my STS install, so I am sure I'll pick up a load of bugs along the way.
