Default XM Radio renewal...

When I brought my car in Dec. 06, the XM Radio came with 90 day trial. At the end of the trial the XM folks wanted over 150.00 a year for subscription. I read on the Cf forum that people were requestiong the cancellation dept. and then getting XM radio subscription for 77.00 plus tax for a year. So I tried that and it worked.
Recently I had to renew it again and the XM folks said that was a one time deal and I couldn't have the 77.00 special again and so I asked for the cancellation dept. I spoke with a very nice lady in the cancellation dept and she, without any hestitation, gave me a 77.00 plus tax renewal!!!! So it doesn't hurt to ask and I thought my experience might help those of you approaching your XM renewal date. Also I paid by check instead of credit card. This will keep XM folks from auto debiting next year at my renewal time.

You know that they could also debit from your checking account. Check the terms of agreement, you may have agreed to it when you checked the small box and clicked Continue.

No boxes checked or any forms. THis was all done over the phone and then I sent a check after she gave me the total.

I have NEVER used the XM in the Vette. I even renewed my subscription for another year and still haven't used it.

I have Sirius in the Jeeps and use it all of the time. IMO, it's way better than Xm.

Default XM Renewal

It is common knowledge that you never pay full price with renewals and you always ask for the cancellation department for the 77.00 deal. They screw with you and once I got 6mos. for 38.50 then the next time was back to 77.00. It's all a silly game they play. Never give them a credit card number and always pay by check.

I just installed an XM receiver in the Vette yesterday. This is my first experience with a satellite radio, it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Since I’m going to be on the road for two days I thought it might be a good diversion.

I found this XM receiver for a great price at Circuit City ($39 regular $79) and it had good reviews. Then I found a $20 rebate on top of that. When I went to set it up on line I saw a spot to enter a promo code so I did a quick search and found a 3 month free code to use. So I paid for 3 months and got 6 months. I figure if I don’t like it after than I’m not out a lot of money. I also plan to use the receiver to run through the house system so at least I’ll get additional usage from it.

I have the aux set up in my C5 so I can plug in my mp3 player. This unit has an audio output so I’m able to plug in this receiver the same way as I do the mp3 player.
I put the antenna behind the outside passenger side tail light and ran the wire up and out from behind the ashtray. All I need to do is find or make a mounting bracket so I can easily mount the receiver cradle.

Here is the link to it at CC
