I think we are going to get a good soaking today. Got 0.40" so far, and radar is showing storms just training through likely the rest of the day.

I might have to crank up the mosquito magnets pretty soon.

We got 0.98" of rain today. Might be more before midnight.

So far for the month of April we have gotten 2.54" of rain, and for the year so far 20.87".

I am surprised that mosquitoes haven't been bad. Not that I am complaining!

But yellow fly season is coming up, and that really is no fun at all. Of course, since Connie and I have been knocking them out with the bug zappers, it has actually gotten to be sort of a game with them. I think we must have made a substantial dent in the population since we discovered these toys.

It is almost worth the bites from the ones that get through to us.

Anyway, looks like it might be Wednesday before we see sunlight again. Might as well put the trickle charger back on the vette. The road is pretty sloppy looking, so no chance I'll be taking the car out any time soon.

Maybe so. We got 0.62" more rain since midnight. We likely will get a few more showers moving through today.

We got 0.55" more rain today after my last post, so a total of 1.17" today. I think the rain is over with for a while. Monday is supposed to be sunny and dry, so maybe Connie and I can get some work done outside.

I was told they had bad weather up here about a week and a half ago. One of my cousins checked on the new house for me the day after and she sent a picture of a tree limb on the roof and a wooden cabinet in the carport got blown over on the V! I got home and went up on the roof to remove the limb and find it put a hole about three inches through the roof! And the Caddy suffered minor body damage to the passenger side window trim and paint. Oh well, could have been worse. I fixed the roof. I was gonna get the V repainted anyway. That cabinet weighs about 200 pounds! Wow!

Damn! Must have been pretty strong winds!

Speaking of roofs, I discovered that I need to replace the roof on my house. What I thought was just a leak at the seam between the house roof and the roof on the side porch is more serious. I thought that the caulking had lifted up at the seam and that was what I needed to fix. But apparently leaves from the overhanging live oak had been backing up the water when it rains heavily and had rusted out the section of the house roof. Something I should have checked on long ago. It's a metal roof and when I ran the drone above it to do a closeup inspection, I see a LOT of rust spots. Many of the screws holding the metal to the decking are rusted as well as the metal around those screws. I had hoped I could get by with just having that one section repaired, but the roof is 30 years old, and it obviously has other issues that will potentially cause more problems sooner rather than later.

So we are planning on getting a "standing seam" metal roof to replace this old one. Going to cost a chunk of change.

Also talking to tree specialists about having that live oak taken down. That isn't going to be cheap, neither.
