Thumbs up Hell of a deal on brake rotors and pads!

I wish I had seen this before cleaning my rear rotors and painting those rusted center sections. -> http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-p...9-shipped.html

Heck, for $180 SHIPPED for a complete set, I just may go ahead and buy them anyway. My rotors are grooved from the sandy road I live on and I really SHOULD have had them turned anyway. I was going to pull off the front ones to paint them too, but heck.....

Anyway, if you think you may need new rotors and pads real soon, I doubt you can beat this deal I found. The thread indicated above seems to have ALL good reviews on this stuff, too.

Hell, I'm going to go ahead and order a set of these. I checked around and I'm pretty much seeing 98 percent glowing reviews about the product and the seller. The only reason I didn't buy new ones from the start is because I was figuring it would cost me between $500 and $1,000 to do this, and I just didn't have that kind of money to throw into it with everything else going on.

That is a great deal..I put Baer rotors and hawk pads on and I believe I paid $500 or more for the set..I have about 10,000 miles on them with no complaints, and they were not bad to install either..If I was sure I would not be looking for a C6Z this year I might pick up a set and put them on the shelf..

Rich, if you DO order this set, please post up pictures as well as your opinion
of the quality of what you get. I would be really interested in hearing what you
think about them. Just might be time to swapall of that out on my C5.

Check out that link I provided, as there are some pics and mini-reviews there. I took some of that with a grain of salt, as I believe that CorvetteForum filters out any negative reviews for their sponsors. But I also did a Google scan for "Brakemotive", and from what I could see, this is all on the level.

One factoid I found interesting was the claim that there are no remaining steel foundries in the USA who make replacement rotors any longer. Not that it should surprise me, though. As far as I can tell, we HAVE been conquered by China already. It's pretty much all over but the screaming...

But seriously, I just can't see paying a premium any longer for brand names when I find the parts I get are made in China, just like the cheapest priced stuff you find elsewhere. So I'm pretty discouraged at basing my buying decisions on brand names any longer....

Yep, no more USA rotors anymore. I try to buy my rotors from Canada or Mexico. Even they are getting harder to find these days. It's amazing how much crappier Chinese steel is. If I didn't autocross my car, I'd go for this set real quick.

I know this is a duplicate post from another thread, but I felt I should keep this info together in one place...

Well the brake stuff showed up, and all in all the stuff looks like decent quality, especially for the price.

Brake pads looked OK to me, but I'm not an expert in them, and I guess the proof of the pudding will be when I drive with them.

But one fly in the ointment was that I noticed that one of the four rotors was not inside a protective plastic bag like the others, so I looked at it more closely. Darn, looks like at the edge of the hat on one of the rear rotors, it got scraped or dinged or something and that took off the zinc coating exposing the bare metal. I looked more closely at the box, and it appears to me that it has been retaped shut. So my guess is, based on the evidence, that someone swapped out those rotors in that box I got, and I got the short end of the straw. I've contacted the seller to see what he will do about this. I know they were cheaply priced, but still.......

I was contacted by the seller of those rotors and pads this morning. They are sending me out a replacment set of the rear rotors plus a return label for the set I got from them originally.

That sounds fair enough. Hopefully all will be well that ends well.
