Default Insane heat and no rain

We are back to that time of year that i hate. Ringing humidty temps around 98 and no rain for weeks at a time. I knew since we had a cold winter we would pay with heat and a very dry summer in my area.

It was 98 here, I didn't check the humidity because grown men shouldn't cry.

Luckily, it was the only day this week I wasn't working outside all day. Wait... no, that's a bad thing.

I looked at the WCTV6 website when I got home this evening and the temp was 100 with a heat index of 107! That's awfully hot for June! What can we expect from July, Agust, and September? I'm looking forward to October....maybe the highs will only be 95 or so....Between the summer heat, the yellow flies, the (soon to be) oily beaches, and my job....I'm starting to wonder, why am I in Florida?!

I'm curious to see (and not in a GOOD sense) if storms developing over the Gulf will draw up oil to be dropped over land. If you think an oil "spill" is bad news, it will be nothing compared to this....

This would be a REAL good time to buy stock in any major sources of commercial degreasing products....

Most anytime we are in a reverse west wind flow you guys on the east coast get rain. Most of the summer we are stuck in a reverse west wind flow so i get no rain on the gulf in Pasco county.

Rich, are your thinking oil rain? Interesting, I'm not sure (hope not) if the bulk density of the oil will allow it to evaporate at the same rate as water to form clouds.

I don't think anyone really knows what is going to happen with that amount of oil laying on top of the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Will a hurricane be able to draw up the oil off of the surface? Certainly waterspouts will be able to.

With the oil being dark in color, that means it will ABSORB more of the sun's heat and transfer that directly into the water. What sort of effect will that have?

Well we just had a nice thunderstorm pass through here that dropped us some rain as well as dropping the temps from 100 degrees down to 84 degrees.

Now I guess the sun will pop out and raise the humidity to around 120 percent or so...
