Default Alarm systems

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I got a 81 model. My first and loving it.
Can anyone tell me where the factory alarm is located and why (when I hook up the horns) it blows all the time. Very confused.
Thanks in advanced for all the help. - Buckeyejack

I know alot of ppl are reluctant to talk of such things. But I'm just a hillbilly from East Tenn. and need help.

Default Alarm System

After doing some more research, I've found this.

For the C-3's (76-82) the anti-theft circuit is powered at all times through the CLK,LTR,CTSY fuse.The circuit is armed when the driver closes the ANTI THEFT CONTROL SWITCH (key operated).The ANTI THEFT HORN will sound if any one of the six switches is momentarily closed. Those six switches are;
(1) the LH and RH COURTESY LIGHT SWITCHES- closed by opening either door.
(2) the ANTI THEFT HOOD SWITCH - closed by opening the hood.
(3) the ANTI THEFT WARNING SWITCH - closed by forcefully removing the ANTI THEFT CONTROL SWITCH.
(4) the LH and RH ROOF PANEL SWITCHES ( late production).

When any of these switches is closed, the ANTI THEFT RELAY (located in the center console) is energized which sounds the ANTI THEFT HORN until the ANTI THEFT CONTROL SWITCH is turned off or the battery is exhausted. The FLASHER causes the ANTI THEFT HORN to pulse on and off.
Note: If the ANTI THEFT PROTECTER SWITCH is closed (usually as a result of forcible removal of the ANTI THEFT CONTROL SWITCH), the ANTI THEFT HORN will continue to sound after the ANTI THEFT CONTROL SWIYCH is turned off. Also, the ANTI THEFT HORN willsound any time the ANTI THEFT PROTCETER is closed - regardless of whether the alarm has been set or not.
The ANTI THEFT HORN is located behind the fender, up against the firewall.

These year models have ODB-1 PCM's, Can't validate whether horn blows at 5-mph + or sitting still.

So in my case, I have to remove all the panels to check every wire and every switch.
Hope this helps - Boyd

Boyd is correct. My early '81 didn't have the roof panel switches and the wires were taped off under the carpet behind the drivers seat. In late '77 they made the arming switch part of the passenger door key switch. Caused lots of problems in 77's and early 78's, and requires some silicon grease if it is "shorting". Just get an '81 shop manual and follow the diagram and test procedures. Actually quite a rudimentary system and easy to troubleshoot.
