Z06Fever! Well, why not? Having one of these toys is definitely an illness for which there is no cure, so let's talk about this specific malady.

Default Squealing brakes

Anyone having issue with squealing brakes on 2016 Z06? Dealer claims fairly common issue on new Vettes- fix is switching to ceramic pads but GM won't pay for it.

it's common with semi-metallic pads in general. when it rains, the rotors will surface rust overnight and so will the metal in the pads. should work itself out. ceramic pads have copper in them. so no rust.

Are these the standard brakes or the optional Brembo carbon ceramic rotors?

These are standard brakes. Car never driven in rain- very dry last few weeks- after 5-10 mins of driving, brakes squeal on every stop. Dealer put copper coating on pads but no difference- still squeal. Any ideas? Thx!

Quality brake pads and rotors shouldn't squeal. For the amount of money you paid for that car, it's not at all unreasonable to expect that you wouldn't have this sort of problem. And to me, the argument "they all do that" just doesn't wash.
